About California Proposition 65

California has one of the strictest labeling laws in the country. The law requires a warning if a product could contain even trace amounts of naturally occurring elements like lead — something found in soil, plants, and water everywhere on earth.

That means even completely natural, healthy foods — apples, berries, spinach, nuts, and coffee — would need this label in California. Ironically, highly processed foods often don't require it, because they've been stripped of natural minerals during processing.

This warning doesn't mean a product is unsafe. It simply reflects California's uniquely cautious standards that apply to almost anything grown in the ground or made from natural ingredients.
